Nigan BAYAZIT got Ph.D. from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Faculty of Arch. in 1969, Associate Prof. in 1974, and Prof. in 1981. Between 1983 and 1984 she was a Fulbright Research Fellow at the University of Maryland, Dept. of Design. She was the scientific head of Department of ID in ITU since 1993 and head since 1995. Between 1979 and 1997 she was in the Editorial Advisory Board of Design Studies. In 1987 she established CAD laboratory in ITU Faculty of Arch,, sponsored by IBM International. She has 11 books in Turkish, 22 articles published in international journals and books, 24 international conference papers, 35 national articles, 18 national conference papers. Her publications and interests are in Design methods and theories as well as design research. She was the editor of ITU Journal A: Architecture, Planning Design and ITU Dergisi A: Mimarlik, Planlama, Tasarim (2003-2005). She is emeritus since August 2006.
